Sula 1919-1920

Sula is an interesting novel, with characters that make the reader tremble at the thought of knowing that real people suffered as they did.  The more I read, the better I understand the trend that tapers as dysfunction continues to soar.  I am having the best time with my class, as they express their thoughts and think critically about situations that still exist even today.  They seem to raise there brows at the suggestions I make about life, and how I question their decision making skills.  I constantly have to remind them that they have a VOICE, and it is strong and meaningful.  I am excited about what tomorrow brings.
